Continuing Education Privacy Seminars for Insurance Producers

The California Department of Insurance (CDI) has announced that  during the summer/fall of 2002 they will begin enforcing the federal Gramm-Leach-Bliley Financial Services Modernization Act (GLBA) as well as the Insurance Information and Privacy Protection Act (IIPPA),  contained in California law in Insurance Code, sections 791, et seq.

In order to assist the producer community to come into compliance with these federal and state mandates in a timely fashion, igapp.com has been working closely with key members of the Legislature and Regulators at CDI on financial privacy for well over a year.  Since early 2002, CDI has been publicly circulating the draft regulations to harmonize these two separate bodies of statutory  law.

When the draft is complete and approved by the Office of Administrative Law, igapp.com, in conjunction with the California Association of Health Underwriters, will conduct a series of CDI approved Continuing Education seminars  across California.  This complex material will be distilled and presented to agents, along with required forms, and procedures so that  producers will be able to be in compliance with the law in a timely manner.

Seminar date, time and locations will be posted here soon.  In addition, igapp.com will be available for compliance consulting
